I've been working on translating old QBasic programs to Java, using
Eclipse. When QBasic is open, however, an ntvdm.exe program appears and
consumes practically all the CPU power, even when no program is running,
meaning upper 90s %, often 99%. That means that I often have to close QB
to work on Eclipse and then open again QB. Sometimes, I change the
priority of this program file to Below Average in the Windows Task
Manager; this does not seem to affect the performance of the QBasic
programs, I am not sure whether this is the best way to handle the
problem though. But is there another way to use effectively other
programs while QBasic is running? Now I have Windows XP. I never
encountered this problem in my old Windows 98 machines...
