This is not really an AppleScript problem, but I discovered it with
AppleScript and scripting AppleWorks is something frequently discussed
here.
I have a long-time AppleScript, used for years by over a hundred people,
which scripts AppleWorks to same Drawing do***ents in PICT or PNG format.
In the script I explicitly name the translators I use, for example ...
PNG [QT]
So a new user came to me on Friday telling me that my application didn't
work. Which puzzled me since it is in use by many other people with the
same version of AppleWorks (6.2.9) and the same version of the OS. After
some debugging I realised that in his installation of AppleWorks the same
ex****t translator is named this
PNG Image [QT]
instead. There's no difference between his AppleWorks installation and
mine. And he's running 10.5.2 which I have previously seen and didn't
have the different translator name. So does anyone have any idea why, on
his computer, the translator has a different name ?
Simon.
